Loved it!!!!! David, these songs are fantastic! I just listened to Meaghers Escape too, and it was amazing. Where can we find the cd my friend?

Thanks to my friends who have sent messages about this tune. I thought I should let everyone know that Hannah and Stuart who wrote it are just 17 and 14 years of age. Hannah is playing the fiddle and Stuart is the seated guitarist.

Donna, Unfortunately the tune has not been written down as yet. It was composed by Hannah (the fiddle player in the Mosquitoes) and her younger brother Stuart (seated in the video). If they get a chance to write it down I will let you know. Don't listen too closely to your father about getiing a 'happy book" but don't tell him I told you as you need to remember that fathers are always right. Music is about all the emotions and I really connect with this tune also. Thanks again for the feedback.

Gerard. Thanks for your feedback. I teach history at a high school and am a big believer in the younger generations acknowledging those who came before. One of the things the children are trying to do through their music is connect to the past and I am helping a little in making them aware of that history. When they next play the tune I will ask them to make special mention of the French who have also suffered as a result of the events you mentioned. Sixteen of my ancestors were sent to Australia for crimes committed simply due to extreme poverty. One of those ancestors stole clothing with her accomplice being an ancestor of our current Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd. From the sacrifices of those forebears we have the great country and individuals we have today.

Well! I can see that History is quite important to them and to you. And that we sort of share a part of it. Let them allow me to dedicate this lament also to the thousands of Parisians who were slaughtered during the struggles of the Paris Commune and the "Bloody week" in 1871, and to Louise Michel and the 4000 insurgent who have been deported to New Caledonia.

I love to play Laments. My Dad is always telling me to "get a happy book." Do you know where I can get the music for Fiddle for this piece?
