Joe McDonnell

My attempt at a song that came out of the 1981 hunger strikes about the fifth hunger striker to die in the H-Blocks. My family is from Belfast, and my cousin was in Long Kesh at the time of the strike, although he wasn't one of the strikers... he spent 16 years in prison and was never so much as charged with a crime. Consequently, this song means a lot to me.

Perhaps this song will help keep the memory alive for the younger generations of all those who suffered and died for Irish freedom. Thanks, Kathleen

One of which made a death threat to me, which I do not take seriously. His account, by the way, and his racist anti-Irish videos that he made were suspended and removed within an hour of him making the threat on me.
