I found I had a distant relative in Michigan and he has been trying to chase down the ancestry too. Two of them, James and John, we speculate brothers, came over to Canada in 1830. John went to the US.Through all this, I go by my second name; James is my first name, like Jimmy Rankin, the singer, and the guy in the States is also James.
