Racing's been a little quiet this past week. The trainer I help out hasn't been able to get into the classes he wants. Oh well, things are picking up at the vet clinic so I'm staying busy. What about you? Been playing somewhere or keeping busy some other way?
I'm abit jealous now! You have a bunch of "puppies"! Dogs and horses are the greatest. I lost the best dog in the world a year ago Thursday to cancer at the age of 13. Twinkie was a yellow lab/dalmation mix and is in one of my photos. My current living situation doesn't allow for animals so I'm going to have to hold on before getting another puppy to love.
I never got a driver or trainer's license of my own but with the standardbreds even us "lowly" grooms did it all except the racing. lol!! I got dumped out once while jogging a horse and wound up getting knocked out on the track. When the horse realized what happened to me, I was told that he stopped and stood right by me almost to protect me till someone came to help. Horses are SO smart!!
The horse in my page's ID picture is a colt named "Great Success". He was a 2 year old in that picture, a big boy! Gus, the horse in the accident was my own horse. My claim to fame in the racing industry was that I actually got him trained down to race myself. He was not a very race orientated fellow. I was told I should have been given an honorary trainer's license just for accomplishing that feat lol!! (his attitude had nothing to do with that accident lol!!). I had to give him away to a friend of mine in Arkansas 3 years ago and sadly he passed away this past June.
I don't mean to sound stupid, but in your photos, does "digital painting" mean you painted those pictures yourself? They're incredible!!
We got 4th after a really tough trip.. parked out almost the whole mile, poor bugger! Trainer was upset with the drive and keeps swearing he's going to put someone else up on the horse but he rarely ever changes drivers. This horse was suppose to go up to the Amish last Sunday but there was a mix up with the shipper, not sure if I'll be seeing him racing next week.
Tell me about your puppy there.. looks like a cute one (then again, I think they're all cute!!).
LOL!!! We never seem to be able to get away from our moms no matter how old we get!!! My uncle asked me not to travel the Grand Circuit any more so I could stay in Fl. year round and "look after" her. She tried to adjust her window shutters in the middle of Hurricane Wilma and when my uncle found out about that I think it prompted him to ask me to stay put.
Even though I don't do the horses full time any more I am paddocking a race at Pompano tonight (5th race, not too late) but I hope we get to chat soon.
Hi Norma and thanks for the invite!! Mainly did trotters , did the Grand Circuit for the past several years but gave it up 6 months ago to stay close by to my Mom. We've alot in common I see, but my time is limited right now, off to work and all but I'll get back with you. have a great day!
Hi Norma, i really like your music. The Lady and the cowboy is the kind of music i like. Ambient style with piano. Hope you gonna sell a lot of these beautiful songs. If I can get a copy I will certainly consider buying it.
It must be cold there. I live between Gettysburg and Lancaster near the Md. border. Yesterday it was 53. But in the evenings it's been cold. Where does your sister live?
Sorry for the delay....It has been VERY cold here....10-15 degrees Fahrenheit. Our first big snow storm is forecast for Saturday; perhaps as much as 10 inches of snow.
Thanks for your message. I believe Labs are smart dogs but it's also up to the owner. Training a dog is much more difficult than i expected. My dog thinks he is superior than me. I have to let him know Im his leader but I dont know how. If you have any good suggestion, would you tell me??
Hi Norma,
This dog is actually not mine.I used to look after him when I was living in Galway.Yes he was such a lovely dog...
I have my own dog here in Japan. It's a black Labrador retreiver and he is 3 months old. He makes me crazy every day!!!
So just out of curiosity where in the world do you play in Dillon. I think I remember a place Lion's Den or stagecoach inn but for a college town I don't recall to much nightlife outside the rodeo.
Thanks for the friend invite. Your digital paintings are amazing. I live on Vashon Island near Seattle. It is cold here today, and they say it will snow at about 1,000 ft. Since we are at sea level, we probably won't see any.
