with tin whistles D is the most common. with a D whistle you can easily play in 3 keys, d, g and a.
C is another common whistle and plays c, f and g.
i also have whistles in high f and low b flat.
if you can get a set of generation whistles tweeked by gerry freeman ,they would or should be good. the tweeked whistles are more stable and in tune better. but i would suggest you buy a generation ( blue) tweeked whistle in the key of D to start with and see how you go.
i started with a basic feadog whistle and still play it from time to time.

Hi Deb,well with help from my Dad we found my side goes to a Mike McKee conected too the IRA and the Easter fighting in Northern Ireland in 1916.The McKee's on my side are most defenatly Irish.
