Yeah Kathleen, I am good.
With all the rain in June, I thought I was going to be forced to build an ark. Luckily, today is sunny with glorious blue sky, mild breeze.
I cannot believe that July 4th is just around the corner. When I was a kid the summer seemed endless...now it seems like a long weekend. The difficulties of the aging process.
The fourteen year old granddaughter is coming in from Wichita KS for a few weeks beginning July 1. She is such a sweet kid, So nice to have her around. She likes to come here cause she is away from the normal parental craziness and we spoil the hell out of her. Apparently, it is much calmer here than her usual environment. Doesn't surprise me in the least.
I've taken to watching the Phillies, which I haven't done since I was a teenager. It is easier now that they are the World Champions. too.
The pool is finally clear, so pretty soon the heater will get fired-up and there will be splashing and merriment and much conviviality. Ahhh summer.
Hope all is well with you Kathleen...I'll take you home again...

Hi Kathleen,
About time you became a grandparent. I predict you will love the new relationship with the grandchild. It is so nice to play with them and enjoy them and be able to at their little backsides and send them back to Mom and Dad. Brilliant!
It is beautiful here in Pennsylvania. Spring is such a hopeful season. The flowering trees set the tone. I am sitting here watching a golf tournament. I am not a player, but the tournaments are a joy to me because it is what I consider to be "quiet TV". No explosions, or body-counts. Just a stretch of green and gentle breezes. Of course, Mark Twain said of golf, that it was a "long walk, ruined". Great wit.
I have been having some medical probs that have kept my attention for some months now. Hopefully all the treatment is over and I can return to re-focusing on more rewarding things. I need to get out and take some pics.
I have been pretty impressed with your photos, so when you post, please let me know. Would love to see you dancing round that May pole.
Regards,
Yank
Ahh yes the dogs are great. The merle color is Babe and the red is Buddy. They are wonderful. Both are old souls, very gentle and loving.
Yes that is me in 1431, while I was in Ireland. Alas the beard is gone now..it became much too itchy to continue.
Stay well Kathleen.

hi! sorry for the late reply, I hope you spent a wonderful St. Patrick's day! Thank you for your kind words, they're appreciated. Hope to talk to you soon,
Hi, I've read your description and found it great! I love photography too, even if I still have a lot to learn. Two of the pictures you can see in my slideshow were taken by me (the one with the bench and the one with the stairs and the lake).
Anyway I saw your photography website and it's awesome. Many many compliments :)
Thank you so much Kathleen. I will check these out and let you know what I think. Are ye planning a celebration for St. Patrick's Day there in NC?
Spring is on the way...yippppeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I will order the Aran Island film. I do believe that I have seen the Roan Inish film, though I can't remember it very well. Thanks for the tips, Kathleen.
Supposed to snow all day tomorrow. I can't wait for Spring to break.
Hope all is well with you.
Kathleen,
In 2004, we went with friends to visit their Donegal relatives, the McLaughlins. (In 2000, we traversed the country from Dublin to the lovely West of Ireland in a small bus with 11 other friends.) The McLaughlins live at the northernmost tip of Ireland in and around Malin Head. They were gracious and friendly and welcoming as are most sane Irismen/women! The land was desolate and beautiful. We had a grand time. I, like you, yearn to visit the West again. Conemarra has a special place in my heart, so isolated and serene.
Since I am a big fan of Daniel Day Lewis (have you seen his masterpiece There Will Be Blood?) the next time to IE, I want to go to the Wicklow Mountains, near Dublin and hang out in the pub that he frequents. As I type this, I am unsure that I can tear myself away from the lush IE landscapes long enough to do that. Maybe a couple of nights...
I am interested in the documentary, Man from Aran, that you mention.
Interested in ANY film in which IE is the backdrop, but this was shot in 1934 and should capture the islands before all the recent decades of development began. How is it you seem to know about the films of the 30's and 40's?
Top of the morning to ya Kathleen and Happy Sunday!
Kathleen,
Ahhh yes the West of Ireland is, indeed, a magical place. I have not, as yet, hiked the Twelve Pins, but I have spent some time in Ennis, driven the tranquility of Connemara, observed numerous rainbows near Doolin, and had my heart broken in Castlerea.
If you have not been...I would recommend touring the wild and wonderful County Donegal. There at Malin Head, the northernmost tip of Ireland, families would wave sheets at the ships passing by and off to America with their relatives onboard, never to return.
Jaysus, I do need to hear a sad Irish ballad about now. ..
