Nope, I'm Irish (and Italian, German, English, Dutch, Cherokee..) The kilt is actually that of my Grandmother's Thompson clan, but we tend to muddle things amusingly over here in the States. Irish family on a Scottish kilt? Eh.. why not? There's not many of us Irish at the local Highland's Festivals, but we make up for small numbers with sheer volume ;)

Afro Celt is awesome. I recently contacted them to see where to get one of their tracks that they put up on their MySpace page, but it is not out on any CD, so they sent me the MP3 file! The song is Mojave Downmix and it's pretty excellent!
Ya, and I'm with you, can't stand some of the old stuff but love the comtemporary Trad stuff.

Hi Claire. I have friends in Meath. Their name is Carney and they live near Trim. She has an Irish dance school and they have visited with my family several times when they and their dancers have been here in Ohio for Irish Festivals. I wonder if you've heard of them ?

That's very cool that they let you hang out at the studio, I would absolutely love to do that next time i'm in the motherland. love your hair by the way, you appear to be a natural redhead, which i actually found to be a rarity in Ireland. also love that your from Co. Meath, that's were my ancestors are from...Meath and Cavan. what do you do for work up there? also, do you play any instruments?

Claire, sorry for only replying now,,,back in singapore, ba jet lag...and loads to catch up after a trip away...anyways, Ireland is like a home to me, I am very familiar with the culture and have many friends living there....Singapore is grand too..but a tad bit too hot for me...so I like to do my back to my other home trip...i.e. ireland...from time to time..Have fab XMas Holiday ya!!!! xx
