in 2005 we sold our home of 40 some years and moved into a double wide mobile in a "senior"park to be closer to Elizabeths job. at that time we got rid of tons of "stuff"....
in 2010 we sold the Mobile and got rid of all but 750 cu ft of things which we shipped to ireland.
no furniture..clothes tools electronics paintings holiday decorations a pot belly wood stove...
lots of books and sentimental odds and ends...
every year since 2003 we had carrioed as much as we could in our baggage...and while you still could mail stuff ( by boat ) we also sent many boxes of things over with us.
over the years as we finished the cottage in Ireland we bought the furniture and appliances...as we needed them.
my wife frst came to Ireland as a high school senior and fell in love with the country...little did she know that one day she would be livng here....when we married 40 years ago she had already been to Ireland several times...and she always knew i had very little interest in Ireland..and how much i enjoyed living in southern california. she had given up the dream of living in ireland.
But things change and now we are retired here and ( both ) loving it. Happy to respond to any questions you might have....
