Hello Denise,
My condolences on your loss. Words cannot say enough for what life has brought your way. The Irish, and my family here in Ottawa, celebrate the life of the the one that has "gone over" We gather and tell stories about the person. All the funny, sad and naughty things they used to get up too. The reasons why they made our lives richer for knowing them. Is it no wonder the Irish are such great story tellers? Even better when the stories are put to music. Laughter is a great medicine and our wakes are full of that and tears enough to water the garden. Celebrating St. Patrick's Day as Tom would have liked, is a wonderful way to honour his memory.
Denise, Sorry to hear about your loss. My heart go out to you! The Irish, at least where I come from, always hold a traditional Irish wake where we celebrate the life of the one we lost with friends and family. It not only makes us feel better it brings us closer together! St Patricks Day is a fitting time to do this. Make your St Patricks day just as your Tom would have liked it and celebrate his old life and the new life he has found! There should be plenty of good music and drink and food and everyone should toast the man they all knew and loved. I'll tell ya, it can be a real tear-jerker! He'll be smilin down upon you from above, he will!
Hey Denise, I'm Bernard, myself and David set up Live Ireland. Dont usually say hi to People who join, but having seen your story, I just had to say Hi and say I hope you find some good friends here, we are anice bunch ;)
