Just had to say "Yes We Can!" What exciting times ahead for us...I can feel the spirit of the nation change and watching people letting go of fear and knowing that they do have the ablility. It will all take time..but what a start!

President-Elect Obama – sounds good, eh? Congratulations! A fantastic win for a brilliant candidate. Now that’s a way to run an election! Hopefully, the American people as a whole will unite behind him and begin the long process of solving the immense problems facing the nation. What a task! The world applauds – the right man won. History will mark the transformation as the day the U.S. finally became of age and judged the man ‘by the content of his character and not by the colour of his skin’. What a proud moment indeed. Your hard work was rewarded.
Hi Patti,
How are things going with you out there? Where are you now? Home? or out helping with the campaign. I am so excited with the positive drive that Obama has right now. It's is time for a change in this country with a different outlook. Busy with teaching school again and travel some this summer. Drop a line when you can.
I have a soft spot for the name Devlin. One of my best experiences in the theatre was playing Mary Devlin, the wife of Edwin Booth, opposite Jose Ferrer, who played Edwin, and his father, and produced AND directed, etc., etc. As for Barack, he is said to have some Irish, somewhere in his background. No matter, I'm in his corner anyway, Bigtime! Thanks for the note. Patti
Patti - I love that you followed your sentence about campaigning for Barack with " I love everything Irish." Now given, and hopefully, he is a needed answer to current American politics - he's not Irish! Now that may be his only flaw. Frank S and "You Make Me Feel So Young" Come Fly With Me and High Hopes are a couple of my favorites. JMD
I seem to recall Tony Bennett staying at our office in Covent Garden when he was supposed to be doing something in Scotland. I did a box set thing as a competition in Ireland of Frank Sinatra. We were going to do it via Harmac (?) and I can't remember what went wrong. I have a garbage memory. I recall talking about the Tony Bennet glitch, because I think we shipped a piano up to Scotland. So the BBC, mighthave thought they were looking at a sure thing. Anyway, such is life. If it ain't in the fridge, it may not be anywhere.
Are you still working on the Obama campaign? It has all been so exciting...fingers are crossed and hopes are high. Did see Michelle on the View (when I was sick)...what a classy and intellegent lady. She came across well. Was just wondering how it was going for you.
Pat
My wife said that if she has your profile name for the Obama site, she can find you. If your profile name is "Patti", she might need what you listed as your location as well.
Well, it was wild just before PA when you wrote me. It's wild not before North Carolina & Indiana, isn't it? That pseudo-debate, the Rev. Wright stuff, all of the accusations that Barack has to deal with and not sling mud back.
My wife did some telephoning to Pennsylvania and got hung up on twice. Evidently a somewhat out of date list. She is from Indiana, so she is thinking about making calls this weekend. We will see, as we now suddenly have a lot of yard work to do.
I don't know if you are a Star Wars fan, but there is a neat video that has been produced called "The Empire Strikes Barack," playing on the 2nd Star Wars movie title. If you are interested I will send you the link.
Are you on the Obama site? My wife, Elyse, would be interested in connecting with you there if you are.
So how are you doing now that Pennsylvannia is done? I'm sure that all efforts are directed at Indiana and the remaining states. Go Barack, we need life, intellegence, faith in our future and energy to help our country get on the right track. Hope that all is going well.
My wife and I live in Illinois and we are working for Barack as well. My wife is planning to give this evening over to campagin calls to Pennsylvania. She is quite active. I have a page on the Obama site and have written one little blog. We are both excited at the prospect of change that Barack is able to envision - and inspire the rest of us toward.
Thanks for the work you have done for the campaign in California.
Hi Everyone,
I have missed liveIreland since my computer has been down. I have a new one now and it seems to be working out, despite my ineptitude. Did I mention that I'm technically challenged? Going to try to get back to all you guys who have been kind enough to write.
Patti,
How exciting to be involved with helping a candicate you believe in. I was raised in the bay area, husband was from San Fran...so I know the area well. Let us know how it goes on the campaign trail...what a challenge.
I live Tony Bennett and Frankie Ol Blue Eyes and Billie Holiday! I like your taste in music! If you are interested in dual citizenshio, you would need birth and death certificates for your grandparents and parents and wedding certificates (all obtainable through local agencies and/or Dublin Bureau of Immigration. If oyu obtained it, you could then help your children and grandchildren get listed in the great books of Ireland, allowing them to maintain dual citizenship and also all the priviledges that go along with it.
