Hi Shawn , thanks for the welcome.
No I'm not playing an instrument (yet) but I ordered a Harmonica CD Pack and a Waltons aluminium D whistle CD Pack so I'll be starting some practising as soon as I get them. Greetings...
I've been playing for allmost a year now and would not know how to compose music for a bodhran, since you can't really write the music down in notes :-)
Sometimes i play along with music on a stereo, sometimes i play with other people, but most of the time i just let come what comes, because that's the most fun and sometimes leads to surprising things!
Hiya Shawn! Thanks for your note...even if you did slag me for being "overqualified," haha! When you get to be my "advanced age" you'll, no doubt, be overqualified, as well! I've been to Philly once...when you guys had the crazy Nor'easter in February a few years ago...complete with thundersnow! I was there to see Clare musician friends of mine...and they were quite entertained by all the snow. I was at the Commodore Barry (?) place and some pub in the city with a mermaid theme...funky old place...had a great weekend, despite the weather. Thanks for your note...and best of luck with your musical projects!
Shawn, I put it down due to inactivity. I was feeling that all the work I put into it was for naught. I had a few ask to give it another try so I started it up again and we're going to rebuild from the ground up. Sign up if you want and give me your ideas on how to make the group one that is interactive and progressive.
Hello Shawn, Thanks for the welcome message!
I play the bodhran, i have one quite similar to the one on the picture on the right here :-), a Hedwitschak Rolf Wagels Edition (if that means anything to you). Great drum, beautiful sound !!
Oh thats really cool,
I try to compose stuff but I'm not always successful lol
I've been playing keyboard since I was about nine or ten, so not as long as you!
Hi Shawn! I love wolves. I think they are just amazingly powerful and beautiful. My husband has a wolf tattoo and I have to tell you it blows me away. The artist captures the intensity of the animal, which doesn't always hapen with skin art especially. I see you are reading Psych books. Might I asume that is your major? I am in school too, and am about midway through my scholastic journey. Undergard work was to obtain a BA in English, Professional Writing with minors in Psychology, History an religion, along with a special course of study: Irish Language, Culture, Religion, Film and History--the latter is the equivalent of another mior, but our school doesn't recognize that particular minor. As a grad studnet I am embroiled in Graduate Education courses, and have recently found my PhD program in GAlway, but it is going to be a huge undertaking trying to get in and then go live there and take my kids.
I have to tell you, with Irish language classes under my belt, but no-one to speak with, I barely can string a sentence! kee meaning to get on the group line, but I am in final group and solo project hell. I have a lot of personal stuff going on too, so I am so happy to have a respite and some new found friends to talk to. Hope oyu accept my invite to be a pal and hope you will keep in touch. Slan.
Hey Shawn, how's everything with you? I see your group is doing well. This group thing can keep you pretty busy! I know I've put a lot into mine and hope it pays off someday soon! LOL
Anyway, the best to you my friend!
Thankyou for your welcome. I was beginning to think this is another one of those sites thats full pics and really there's nobody there. Well how wrong was I ! I cant wait to chat to fellow musicians. I might try and get on introducing myself as well. Cheers for now Billy
the keyboard? cool! I'll have to keep my ears open for your songs! You write your own music?!! I have tried but unfortunately the sngs do not turn out so good! :( I'll have to join your group!! I dont think I'll be posting anything yet though! I have to polish up my singing before I let anyone outside of the family hear it! You guys might not talk to me again! hehehe.
Whats the weather like for you? We got at least a foot of snow!
moin!
Thanks for having an interest in my page :)
I would love to become a member of your group. In fact, I was planning on starting such a group myself, because before yours, there used to be just a bodhran and a fiddling group, which instruments I happen not to play :). But you've done the hard work for me now, so count me in.
