Hi Kerry! I would like to stay forever...but haven't figured that part out yet! Plus, I have my daughter in the States and, although she is in college, she still needs her mom. :) I have been working over the internet -once I got online consistently - still doing my job in the US, but I must go back soon and crank it up again! I met a lady here who figured out how to stay, so I may meet her for coffee and get all the good info from her. Some days I love it and some days I just want to go home and go to Target and Walgreens and have a million choices at the grocery store! But, overall, it's been grand!
I am home, just arrived last night :-(. I stayed extra days, so I was there a total of 10 days, but it is never long enough. I am going to look into getting a visa to go back for at least a year. Better late than never, right?! I want to live in Killarney area where the national park is, since I am a very outdoorsy person. My new favorite drink is Bulmers! *laura*
I have seen the vina, I just didn't know what it was called. I am here, it's wonderful - I have had a few pints for everyone by now! I picked a few winning horses too! Everying is great, I've even had a job offer. Maybe I should cancel my return flight! :0)
BTW - my daughter is in love with France! She study French for four years in school and now is a French major in college. She went to Paris this past summer with a friend, just a few weeks after we got home from Ireland. She (sadly) loved Paris more than Ireland. She hopes to study abroad....so I may lose her to France, but visiting her will just put me that much closer to Ireland :)
What is Belleek? I am not familiar with that I am sorry to say! Congratulations to your daughter - I think it is wonderful to make a big change like that and take a risk! Better to do it when you're younger than older, but I say go for it at any time! I may move in with her for a while.....:-D Thanks!
Hi Kerry! Yes, we did go to the north. We went to Londonderry and it was interesting, but we didn't get to spend a lot of time there. I wanted to see more of the "wall" and the murals, but the schedule wouldn't permit it. We stayed at a hotel just outside of Londonderry that Bill Clinton had stayed at, so it was nice, but not close to anything! I thought Donegal was beautiful and the beaches of the north. Killybegs was great too. Giants Causeway is definitely worth the trip! Of course, I loved ALL of Ireland, but when we got to Killarney and I went to the National Park and took the bike ride around the lake with our driver and then spent a few hours at Muckross House - it was my very favorite place of all! That is why when I go back next week (yippeee :D ) I am staying in Killarney and playing all I want around the area! I know Ireland had a VERY rainy summer this year, but now the sun is shining, so I am excited. When we were there in May the weather was fabulous. I hope you have a great time in January - I am hoping to go again in the Spring (March or April of 09). I keep teasing my family that my goal is to find a job (or a nice irishman or someone to adopt me) and simply stay - I may go on one of these trips and never come back :o). *laura*
I love your pictures! It looks like we have been to many of the same places. I was in Ireland in May and am going back next week! When were you there and where all did you go? The weather looks warm for you....we were all around the whole country in May with a private driver (who I loved - he was great!) for my grandmother, mom, aunt, me and my daughter. It was fun, but I am looking forward to even more fun this time!
