The Metropolitans held a six-point advantage in the game, but they allowed themselves to be pegged back as the Treatymen went on to secure a four-point victory.

The Shannonsiders were well beaten in their subsequent semi-final clash with Tipperary, before it all fell apart at the seams in 2010.

But Donal O'Grady has done a tremendous job since coming in as manager, and that is reflected by the fact that Limerick head into Sunday with a more than realistic chance of reaching the last four for the second time in three years.
