Today I went to the Claddagh Irish Pub on the North Side in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.
I am not sure how long they had this Irish Trad session, but it was my first time attending.
I was amazed!
Claddagh is a small Irish Pub chain http://www.claddaghirishpubs.com/ with very beautiful pubs, great food and of course alcohol.
Anyway, this session was great. Best I had since Ireland - of course, I don't find that many in Indy... especially on the north side.
11 musicians! Multiple Fiddlers, Flutists, Guitar/Mandolin, Bodhran/spones/bones and... what totally surprised me... an uilleann piper!!!!
I was in heaven. Nobody felt much like singing, but thats ok, they had great tunes. There was great learning going on too, if someone didn't know tune, they played some bars and then everybody joined in.
I am always amazed to see how people can learn tunes so fast.
I'll be back soon to it... maybe next Wednesday.....!! :)
