Mike and I played at THE BIG HURRAH, our very first Folk Arts Council summer music festival. The festival started August 18th and runs until the 22nd. Check out our website at
www.bsgfolkart.com for all the events. Last night was an evening of Ballads, Stories and other Lies by the Second Stage Players (Diane Dolye, Donny Dunphy, Chris, Tom Doyle and Cal McNiven).
www.2ndstageplayers.ca We started the evening at 8:00 with this set of music: Sixteen for Awhile (Celtic Connection), Not too good with Names (Celtic Connection), Dirty Old Town (Pogues), In a Town This Size (John Prine), The Captain (Kasey Chambers), When Irish Girls Grow up (Tom Russell), The Star of the County Down (trad.), Chrissy's Dick (1976, Linda Slade), Oh, No Not I (trad.), Candlelight and Wine (Dermot O'Reilly), Caledonia (Dolores Keane), Whiskey in the Jar (trad.). We sang in a bar here called Emile's Pub at the Holiday Inn. The Second Stage PLayers did three sets of Stories, Ballads and other LIes. Ken Downey (a memeber of the Poppas) also sang a couple of ballads in between the sets). Great time had by all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We forgot to get a stage picture so we got one taken after we played. Tom offered to play bass for us which was great and gave us a fuller sound.
