Last night our
Bay St. George Folk Arts Council held its monthly folk night. Last night it was held at Clancey's Pub in Stephenville. Our host group was "
The Landsmen" (Ed Keeping, George Keeping and Blaine Priddle), a group the hails from Corner Brook, Newfoundland singing Irish and Newfoundland music. They were awesome. We also had an open mic set in between with several performers: Smokin' and his band (Joe Wiseman, Gerald Butler, Ryan Froude and Waylon Wiseman, SeaWind (Esther Oosterbaan, Aldona O'Keefe and Betty Rumbolt) and Mike and I (Nuttin' Fancy), played as well (Ryan Froude played bass for us). Last night we played three songs; Sixteen for Awhile by a Newfoundland group called Celtic Connection, When Irish Girls Grow up written by Tom Russell and Mike sang Candlelight and Wine a song by Dermot O'Reilly. We sort of did the semi-Punters version on that one. All in all it was a great night for our Folk arts council. We had giveaways as the night was sponsored by Molsons. I won a case of beer....yipee.....
