On our recent trip to Ireland, my brother and I left Beleek and headed to Enniskillen but decided to take a trip to Caldwell Castle. The castle is located in a forest which you have to walk thru in order to see it. We thought, "What the hell. Sounds like it will be fun!" When you enter the grounds, you discover that there are three paths you can take, each one being longer than the next but all leading to the castle. So, we, of course, chose the "yellow" marked trail which was the shortest and off we went ( a walk in the forest to the castle estimated to be 1 km). We saw some beautiful sights along the way but some how we seemed to have gotten off the yellow path and God only knows where we ended up. Thank God the forest is on a penninsula, so I tried to keep the water to our right and we just kept walking. Two hours later we surfaced from the trees ( obviously the 4 km path - the red marked path) and we're still not sure we ever really did see the castle that day -- but we did get some great shots. Moral of the story -- watch for the sign postings or you'll be in the forest for quite a while.
