from JP:
Last night in the Leeson lounge we got our good friend Tomek "Qra" Jastrzebski to join Sliotar on the bass. He was thrown in to the deep end with less than 24 hours warning, it was sink or swim... And swim he did:-) So for the next two Mondays in the Leeson lounge, Sliotar will be performing as a four piece. Come along and let us know what you think.
Now I would like to use this opportunity to let every one know that our new website is up and running! http://fburls.com/99-5W8TktCT/t/s/t…

From Karl Nesbitt site:
Karl’s debut album “Vista Point” which has been 4 years in the making, will be released this August ‘09. It features new compositions from Karl, Marien Collins, Edel McLaughlin, Seamus Gibson and more, as well as songs by John Spillane and Niall Connolly. At the core of the album is a stunning 5 piece band. Stay tuned for availability details from Claddagh Records and iTunes.
I bumped into Karl Nesbitt’s You Tube site by accident. I was trying to browse through videos…

When I got up this morning (which is the middle of the afternoon for you folks on the other side of the pond) I was just expecting to get in a new blog post about a Squidoo lens I'd published yesterday. But when I checked my email, I no…

Hey friends:
I asked my fellow band members if I could post the whole concert on the site and they said OK. I am fortunate and happy to know and play with these folks. This concert was pretty much a one-time thing, but we worked hard and had fun. Anyway, I'd be happy for your comments and critiques. So, eistigi 's bainigi sult as! PS -- I know I started Bean Phaidin too high and too fast -- I was nervous ;}

For the past couple of weeks I've been pretty busy developing a series of 16 Squidoo lenses for Maggie's Music, an independent label started over 20 years ago by hammered dulcimer player Maggie Sansone. The label specializes in what has been termed "chamber folk." While there are many solo recordings on the label, the artists often get together on each others' recordings as well. The music draws on Celtic traditions of Ireland, Scotland and other areas, with a good dash of American influence thr…

Since April I've been building lenses (web pages, but Squidoo calls them lenses because they focus on a topic) about Celtic music on Squidoo. The pages have some info about the performers, links to their pages and other online resources, plus links, mostly to Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, to available recordings.
Here's a list of Celtic Music Lens Links:
Celtic Music: Christmas Compilations…

I've been pretty busy over at Squidoo.com in the past few months. I now have 35 lenses (web pages) on Celtic music, plus 15 Celtic music video showcases. The video showcase number has fallen recently as I've decided to incorporate some of the videos into the lenses themselves.
I made a lens for Celtic Christmas music by individual artists or groups and another one for Celtic Christmas music compilations. Working on the first one led me to create a lens for Bonnie Rideout, a Scottish-American fi…

Today I went to the Claddagh Irish Pub on the North Side in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.
I am not sure how long they had this Irish Trad session, but it was my first time attending.
I was amazed!
Claddagh is a small Irish Pub chain http://www.claddaghirishpubs.com/ with very beautiful pubs, great food and of course alcohol.
Anyway, this session was great. Best I had since Ireland - of course, I don't find that many in Indy... especially on the north side.
11 musicians! Multiple Fiddlers, Flu…

It was sad to learn today of Ronnie Drew's passing on Saturday. I found out from someone in the chat room during Klara McDonnell's show.
It was also mentioned that there's some Ronnie Drew and Dubliners videos on YouTube, and that made me think of the documentary From Clare to Here with Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill that I'd seen there a while ago. So I decided if it wasn't already here at LI, it should be. It's in five parts, with a total running time probably a bit over 40 minutes. In additi…

My latest Squidoo lens is a natural choice:
liveIreland.com, the site and station that got me inspired to create Celtic music lenses in the first place. Needless to say, I listened to the station throughout the creation of the lens, except when I was checking out the YouTube videos on the page. The first video is Klara McDonnell singing "Ride On." The other five I chose by going through the listings of videos that members of my.liveIre…

Listening to LiveIreland has gotten me back in touch with some of the music I'd listened to over the years. My listening gave met the idea to put up a Squidoo lens (actually a web page, but since the pages are meant to focus in on a topic, the Squidoo people call a page a lens) for
Altan, which I posted yesterday.
For my second lens, I decided to feature one of my new discoveries resulting from listening to LI, so now there's a page for Ang…
