I would love to be friends with anyone on the Live Ireland Network, cause we're all such great and friendly people.

Handle everything like a dog,
If you can't chew it or eat it,
just pee on it and walk away.

Not that I think you're all dying to read my blog and destroyed when I don't write....!
But anyway...life is in the way of my computer time. I worked the polls for the election last Tuesday (long hours, little work), I've got a couple of storytelling gigs coming up and I'm behind in my Irish studies (got three more pages of translation to do before tomorrow night). And of course we're going into "the holidays", heaven help us all.

Took a while but now the new song is here.
Its called " Highland winds ".
The base consists of a flute and a guitar ,where alternately arpeggiating violin- and wind- and brasssections represent the different strength as well as the different directions of wind.

Halloween is oíche shamhna,
Samhain night, New Year's Eve. In that time between the end of the last day of the old year and the first light of the new ghosts may walk, the púca
rides the countryside and anything
may be abroad!
, or pooka, is said to blight all fruits not harvested by tomorrow morning, making them unedible (you probably don't want to know how he does this, as it involves bodily fluids). But then, all the harvest should be in by now--turf… Continue

I have lived here since 1982 and these fires have been some of the worst ones to date. It's so tragic to see people losing everything they have in minutes. I have a friend that is in a fire area and I can't get in touch with him to see if his house is safe.
We get so busy with life and wrapped up in many things, but it's in times like this were we push aside those things to focus on what's important. Pray for the the families that have lost there homes and the firefighters that are still… Continue

You come to me in my dream---and I can feel your warmth.
I feel your arms around me -- and I breath in your scent.
I tell myself it's just a dream-- it is so calming and in slow motion.
But I can actually feel you next to me-- and hear you breathe-
Your breath tickles my neck!! It has to be real---- I want it to be real --
I have missed you for so long-----still loving you after all this time.
Even after all the hurt.------ I want to open my eyes and see you-- but--… Continue

Irish Gaelic is usually just called Irish
; usually Gaelic
means Scots Gaelic, a cousin language that is close, but not identical. The spelling was standardized in the 20th century, but the pronunciation wasn't, so there will be regional differences--there are at least three major dialects in Ireland. More on that another time.
But now, enough Irish for the chat room. No, there aren't many Irish speakers in the LiveIreland chat room, but some of us do like to use a touch of the… Continue

Yesterday was my birthday and what better way to spend it then to go for a hike?! I donned a nice pair of jeans instead of the loin cloth (sorry dabh and chip) and headed out to Cooper's Rock for a bit of exercise before I stuffed my face with cookie cake and pot pie. I don't think I would want to be anywhere else in the world then in WV in the autumn. The colors are absolutely amazing! Sadly I had to lower the image quality so I could put the pictures on the site but you guys get the jest.… Continue

We moved the show to the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts in Dover (an elegantly refurbished movie theatre) for the final production on Saturday, Oct. 20 - We were in there from noon until 10 PM, rehearsing, setting the stage, rigging sound & lights, going over entrance and exit routes, etc., etc. - a grueling day..!! It all turned out to be worth it, though, as we sold out the orchestra section and a few balcony seats..!! The director said we may actually have made… Continue
