On our recent trip to Ireland, my brother and I left Beleek and headed to Enniskillen but decided to take a trip to Caldwell Castle. The castle is located in a forest which you have to walk thru in order to see it. We thought, "What the hell. Sounds like it will be fun!" When you enter the grounds, you discover that there are three paths you can take, each one being longer than the next but all leading to the castle.… Continue

Well some of you know we were hit pretty hard by Hurricane Katrina, but we moved. We no longer live on the bayou. We moved to the enterior of Jackson County, called Escatwapa. We have been here about 2 months. I love it, higher ground. This place had no water damage (yeah!!!!!!) so we are hopeful about the next one. Are there hurricanes in Ireland? Something to look into Continue

Well alas this morning the unthinkable happened. At about 11pm last night I was sharing a beer with a friend when I cut my right hand - just on my fingers. Nothing bad at all but it does limit the finger motion over hard strings! Hense my hose is now quiet for the sound of Banjo. It will be a few days yet before I am able to play again I think and I miss my tunes immensely.
Of course the other moment was from a few too many beers last night and hense spent a tired night in a hotel -… Continue

Having difficulty typing. A storm is brewing outside and will have to turn off PC soon. Trembling Shih-tzu (who's scared of storms) glued to lap and getting in the way of the keyboard. Mind you, when the big tsunami they keep predicting hits Oz one day, the Shih-tzu will have warned me by the terrified act and we'll make sure to avoid Sydney for a while (thus avoiding the seaside) and escape it all.
Creative notes - Finished a viking weave bracelet last night, but… Continue

The other day I noticed a lot of things about your hands.
Here are just a few:
They have seen hard work--whether pushing computer keys or holding a hammer.
There is such a masculine quality about them. Strong when they want to be-------Soft when they need to be.
Comforting----that pat on the back saying things will be o k -- or rubbing circles on my shoulders in an Ï understand" sort of way.
The magic in your fingers that brings music to life--that touches me… Continue

Handle everything like a dog,
If you can't chew it or eat it,
just pee on it and walk away.

Not that I think you're all dying to read my blog and destroyed when I don't write....!
But anyway...life is in the way of my computer time. I worked the polls for the election last Tuesday (long hours, little work), I've got a couple of storytelling gigs coming up and I'm behind in my Irish studies (got three more pages of translation to do before tomorrow night). And of course we're going into "the holidays", heaven help us all.

Took a while but now the new song is here.
Its called " Highland winds ".
The base consists of a flute and a guitar ,where alternately arpeggiating violin- and wind- and brasssections represent the different strength as well as the different directions of wind.

Halloween is oíche shamhna,
Samhain night, New Year's Eve. In that time between the end of the last day of the old year and the first light of the new ghosts may walk, the púca
rides the countryside and anything
may be abroad!
, or pooka, is said to blight all fruits not harvested by tomorrow morning, making them unedible (you probably don't want to know how he does this, as it involves bodily fluids). But then, all the harvest should be in by now--turf… Continue
