Telling of The Bride

Here is the Bride poem I was going to write. It came today while trying to write something else. Go figure.

I hope you enjoy,

Telling of The Bride

I tried to write a poem, of a Bride dressed in white

To describe her beauty,

But nothing was right

I wanted it to be from the groom’s point of view,

But no words came to mind

For how she lights up the… Continue

Aw, crappers...

Turns out I didn't pass the FE. Not surprised, but disappointed. Not surprised because, well, I didn't go to engineering school for six years before taking it. Disappointed because, well, I'd have been able to quit this place and go work at Townsend and d what I really like, which is study technology and law. Aw, crappers, indeed. Guess I'm going to have to go about this another way. SO... I'm going to start a B.S. degree program to run concurrently with law school. The B.S. will be in… Continue

Poems change

Hello all,

I was working on a poem about how beautiful a bride is as she walks down the ailse. Written from the perspective of the groom as he watches her entering the room and coming toward him.

However, it took a BIG change in direction. I'm thinking this one over before I post it. I know some people come here to read my poems, and I'm not sure if I want to share this one ... yet. I'm giving it a bit of thought. Like many of my other poems, it came rushing out when I started… Continue

Judge Me Not

This is a poem I have been thinking about today.

I hope you enjoy it.

Judge Me Not

Judge me not for what I am,

But who I am inside

Love me for who I am

I have nothing to hide

Think not bad thoughts, or wish upon me

Things I can not bare

But Look within my heart and soul

And see who I am in there

I am a Mother and a friend

All… Continue

Why Gaelic Should be Adopted as the National Language

((This is something that I found on an older Irish webpage written by John J. O'Callaghan ))

Reason Why Gaelic Should Be Adopted as the National Language

Reasons why English is so hard to learn & why we should adopt Gaelic as our national language:

1) The bandage was wound around the wound.

2) The farm was used to produce produce.

3) The dump was so full that it had to refuse more refuse.

4) We must polish the Polish… Continue

Inspired to write

I've been inspired to write again. This is something I started yesterday and finished today. It sort of took a turn along the way as I was writting it and now the name I originally had in mind doesn't seem right. So this one will be un-named, until it reveals itself to me.

I hope you enjoy it,

I found something I can not have

Beautiful, lovely, and true

I found something I can… Continue

From Clare to Here from YouTube to LiveIreland

It was sad to learn today of Ronnie Drew's passing on Saturday. I found out from someone in the chat room during Klara McDonnell's show.

It was also mentioned that there's some Ronnie Drew and Dubliners videos on YouTube, and that made me think of the documentary From Clare to Here with Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill that I'd seen there a while ago. So I decided if it wasn't already here at LI, it should be. It's in five parts, with a total running time probably a bit over 40… Continue

Irish Music Review with Bill Margeson 18 August 08

Okay, okay, these things pile up. In the middle of last month's writing assignments for The Chicago Irish-American News,, Irish Music Magazine, the Public Radio show with my co-star and brilliant music interpreter, Shay Clarke, these things pile up. Last month, we told you about a single album. The unequalled, Beal Tuinne. Did you get your copy yet? So, when you get 500 albums sent to you every year, guess what happens? They pile up. Brace yourself, Bridgid, here they all come… Continue

Dreaming of You

A little somthing I wrote for someone special. It's not that good, but I thought I would share it anyway. I may even show it to them one day.

I hope you like it,

Dreaming of You

I awoke to the moon and thoughts of you,

Flooding my room and dreams

They both shine brightly within me

Hearing your voice I tremble

Yet find a clam

That eases me

I look forward… Continue

Five years ago today, I kissed the Blarney Stone

I hadn't planned on doing anything so tourist-y, but we couldn't get to Kinsale and we found ourselves in Blarney--or rather, in a B&B looking out over Blarney town--and the next morning it just made sense to stop and see one of the most famous sites in Ireland. And since there was practically no line when we got to the top of the ruins....The things I remember most of that place was hearing the church bells peal out over the town (Lady's Day in Harvest time, after all) and the fairytale… Continue

This is a recipe from Joanne Fluke's mystery "Sugar Cookie Murder"

Irish Roast Beast

12 ounce bottle of stout beer (Guinness Stout, what else?)

2 tsp rosemary (I used fresh off the stalk)

1 tsp thyme

1 tsp sage

1 tsp sweet basil (I… Continue

Well, we don't have it recorded yet, but I wanted to share it with you anyway. Here is the song Tammy and I wrote together. We are still working out the tune a little, but it is starting to sound really good. I hope you enjoy the lyrics.

It's another day with the sun sinking low

It's another night that you don't have a place to go

Well baby I could always make you smile

So come and stay with me awhile

Friendship was the… Continue

Dear friends on LiveIreland,

I'm sorry i haven't been giving news lately and i'm so glad and chuffed that you still remember me... I hope you are all well and kicking ! Things are ok here in the south of the world, except for an economical crisis which forces us to work and work and work to make both ends meet. I began saving all 2000 pesos pounds and all 500 pesos coins months and months ago and i'm happy to say i'll cross the pond to UK and Ireland in october next to hear my… Continue

My NEWEST newest song (DemoSongUNFINISHED)

It is lightyears away from being done, I just like it enough so far to have posted it for everyone to see. It's out of order, and not really a 'song' yet, but I think it's coming along...
