I'm fond of Ireland and Irish people since I've been a little child. I still live in a feeric world with knights, fairys, trolls, hobbits and... of cours celtic music !

But the tradition is to stay up until midnight and watch the new year come in. Many people drink on that evening. Some people drink heavily. This year a young man came to our door at 12:30 too drunk to know where he was. Sometimes folks set off fireworks at midnight. Sounds like the traditions are fairly similar between France and the US
