Hi Everyone,'Bout time I changed my post. Ya think? It's only been since Thanksgiving. Things are good, the weather is getting beautiful, and we have a couple of months yet before the heat sets in. That's when I think of Ireland and San Francisco and miss the good old fog. I hope everyone had a super Happy Easter.Cheers!PattiSee More
Born in San Francisco, CA Now living on Central Coast
About Me:
I'm 75 years old and visited Ireland in September of 2006. My grandparents were all born there and I've always longed to see it. It was everything I'd hoped for and more. I am an actress and theatre director, now semi-retired. I am widowed, have four grown children, five grand children and one "great" one on the way. I am heavily into politics and have been campaigning for Barack Obama. I love everything Irish.
Favorite Music:
Well, I'm pretty old so naturally I like ballads; Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Semi-Classical: Rhapsody in Blue is my absolute favorite. It's funny to me that now, even the music and artists my kids like are considered "oldies." I like a lot of 60's music. I love Barbra, Neil Diamond, so many others. As for modern I like, Alicia Keyes a lot and many others but can't be specific. I did though, see "Once" and loved the movie and the music. Also, Irish/Celtic music, of course.

Just had to say "Yes We Can!" What exciting times ahead for us...I can feel the spirit of the nation change and watching people letting go of fear and knowing that they do have the ablility. It will all take time..but what a start!

President-Elect Obama – sounds good, eh? Congratulations! A fantastic win for a brilliant candidate. Now that’s a way to run an election! Hopefully, the American people as a whole will unite behind him and begin the long process of solving the immense problems facing the nation. What a task! The world applauds – the right man won. History will mark the transformation as the day the U.S. finally became of age and judged the man ‘by the content of his character and not by the colour of his skin’. What a proud moment indeed. Your hard work was rewarded.
Hi Patti,
How are things going with you out there? Where are you now? Home? or out helping with the campaign. I am so excited with the positive drive that Obama has right now. It's is time for a change in this country with a different outlook. Busy with teaching school again and travel some this summer. Drop a line when you can.
I have a soft spot for the name Devlin. One of my best experiences in the theatre was playing Mary Devlin, the wife of Edwin Booth, opposite Jose Ferrer, who played Edwin, and his father, and produced AND directed, etc., etc. As for Barack, he is said to have some Irish, somewhere in his background. No matter, I'm in his corner anyway, Bigtime! Thanks for the note. Patti
Patti - I love that you followed your sentence about campaigning for Barack with " I love everything Irish." Now given, and hopefully, he is a needed answer to current American politics - he's not Irish! Now that may be his only flaw. Frank S and "You Make Me Feel So Young" Come Fly With Me and High Hopes are a couple of my favorites. JMD
I seem to recall Tony Bennett staying at our office in Covent Garden when he was supposed to be doing something in Scotland. I did a box set thing as a competition in Ireland of Frank Sinatra. We were going to do it via Harmac (?) and I can't remember what went wrong. I have a garbage memory. I recall talking about the Tony Bennet glitch, because I think we shipped a piano up to Scotland. So the BBC, mighthave thought they were looking at a sure thing. Anyway, such is life. If it ain't in the fridge, it may not be anywhere.
