Good to hear from you. Whilst the thought is warm I think you may find the 1911 census.ie interesting re. your relatives of yore in Sligo and Mayo, that is if you have some fix on them at that time such as addresses or even a full name! was well pleased myself to find my own lot and their circumstances at that time. Good luck! Anne
P.S. They got my name wrong on L.Ireland; surname is Mc Loone....!

Hi Pat! Thank you for choosing me as a friend and you are the first I have from this site. Sure who could resist your fine photos showing good family people...the backbone ingredient of a great country!....and regret that I am not able to get pics up but hope to rectify next month with the help of my son who works abroad. I have a husband and two sons in their late 20's. No daughters-in law to date alas and I am getting desperate for grandchildren!
Now Pat, just don't ever mention snakes to me : St. Patrick came to Ireland in 432 and converted all the Druids and their followers to Christianity and by tradition cleared the country of snakes. Grand job he did too as they were unheard of when I was young. However, some idiot petshop people etc. re-introduced the vipers and when clients got tired of their pythons (ugh) or whatever in the bath or wherever they dumped them God knows where and it gives me the shudders just thinking about it so subject closed.
I live in Donegal, a county in NW with lovely sandy beaches and rugged cliffs on the Atlantic seaboard. Fine mountains in parts, bogland and low population around the coastal areas vut plenty of fertile land , towns and villages in the inland valleys such as where we live. We are retired and live about 1km from a sleepy village and I like pottering in the garden, reading and TV: force myself to clean and cook to get by and care for youn
ger son who has some problems.
Where did the Gilroys originally come from and when did they emigrate? Guess you have figured that I am interested in people, but don't mean to pry...Anyway. look forward to hearing from you anon. Take care. Anne.
