"Been away for a while with my PC in storage. Now I can't remember any of my passwords and so can't access my mails, etc.
I want to share something with all my fiddlin friends that has helped my fiddling enormously. …"
"Carol, my jury is out on the age thing. I still believe myself capable of much and refuse to submit to thinking 'old".
But then I see a photograph om myself and I think "holy cow, who the heck is that old lady." I have listened…"
"I thank you all for your good advice. As a classical guitarist for many years , I have always been careful about correct hand position and technique. I am doing much better now because I finally quit working and have more time to practice. In fact…"
"Addendum: Be sure to warm up slowly and take frequent breaks. Do some stretches that are in reverse of the position you are in when you play. I could write a book about this but these are some basics."
"HI Nlta, The left hand numbness is probably not due to lack of endurance, but to nerve compression. I would guess it's the median nerve as it travels through the carpal tunnel. Sounds like you may be playing with the wrist flexed (bent)too…"
"I wonder if crotchety comes from "crochet",
I find that as I get older (and older) my b.s. detector is more sensitive and I am less shy about calling someone out on it. I will send back to the kitchen any restaurant food that is not good,…"
I was out in Missouri visiting my grownup daughter and her family and she asked me to take a picture of her and her husband. She chose a huge elm tree for the photo background and I posed them under the tree. There were no shrubberies…"
"There are still many who not only believe in the Fairies but see them as well. There is a delightful film called The Fairy Faith by filmmaker John Walker. His grandmother was a firm believer in the Faeries and because of her and because he used to…"
"Scott's post of 09/17 sounds like a classic Banshee as both the knocking and the wailing are the most common manifestations. Perhaps a member of his clan was passing away, someone of whom he had no knowledge."
"You are welcome. As a kid I was always listening to the old folks. I thought they were so fascinating and their view of a world populated by things like fairies and witches seemed way more interesting than church."
I am a grandmother who played classical guitar for many years and stopped due to a problem with my wrists. My grandfather was a fiddler and so I decided it was time for a change of pace and now have been fiddling for about 15 years.
I got a good…"
"If you ever find a comb lying on the ground, do not pick it up as it may belong to a Banshee who left it there to lure her next victime.
My grnadfather said that if you see a bit of cloth or rag hanging on a tree or bush do not touch it for this may…"
Started fiddling on my 50th birthday after 30 years of playing classical guitar. Can't stop fiddling. Dust on my guitar. I play in a duo called Battlefield Balladeers which recreates the music of the American Civil War. I play in an historically oriented dance group called Bog Oak Harmonians. I also play gigs on my own. I also have a part time job.
It keeps this old Grandma hopping.
Happy (belated) St-Patrick's day..!
I don't like recordings either..! Especially when comes the time of sharing on the web...! But as you will note, in the Just Fiddling Around group, there is only love for fiddle tunes... and no room for competition..! The idea is simply to be an insentive for everyone to open the case, grab the bow and make noises..!!! ;-)
I can understand your fear of uploading (or even recording..!) audio materials... and I respect it totally..!
But I just wanted to let you know that this specific fear could be overcome, for the sake of the music... Proof... I made it..! ;-)
Anyhow... enjoy as much as you can about life and music..! Great times are the best..!
Take care, and again, thanks for joining in..!
Welcome in the LI community..!
Thanks for joining into the just fiddling around group as well..!
Would be great to hear a bit of your playing..! ;-)
Have a great time in here..! And keep on fiddlin'..!!! ;-)
