About Me:
Press Release: Martin A. Egan Launched his Debut Album " "The Tune"in Whelans, Friday March 5th 2010. . "The Tune" recorded between 1992-1997. Martin A. Egan releases a Limited Edition Copy of his Debut Album recorded over a 5 year period 1992-1997. with some of the biggest Names of the period. Co-Produced by Egan with Donal Lunny and Al Cowan both of whom also played on the Album it also includes Peter O'Toole(Hothouse Flowers) Don Baker, Davy Byrne his Bass Player at the time, Keith Donald,(Moving Hearts) Des O'Byrne (Golden Horde) and the Late Great Jimmy Faulkner. Egan who is regarded as one of the Most Radical Songwriters of his Generation has to date never released an Album but who is adamant that this is about to change has been Nominated along with Mary O'Regan (Draoicht) for the German Music Award in 1997, is a Multi Platinum Selling Songwriter in Ireland and the European Mainland having written for and with people as diverse as Christy Moore, Hothouse Flowers,The Black Romantic Collective, The Harvest Ministers with whose Main Songwriter Will Merriman he has written one of the Songs of his Current Set "Ruined Shoes" and former Lush M.D. and Mojave 3 pianist Poppy Gonzalez. .Since his return to Live work after a 14 year sabbatical Egan has formed his own Record Label Slinky Vibe Records, begun work on a New Album and had Poetry included in an Annual Anthology Census issued each Christmas by Seven Towers Publishing. The Album "The Tune" Egan says represents a Major turning point in his Life following hard on the heels of the passing not only of both his Parents but also signalling the end of a period of retreat following the death of his long time Collaborator Richard "Woody Sagoo" Mc-Donald with whom he wrote and worked on an Album of Songs with which is as yet Unreleased due to Woody's sudden passing while it was in progress.. "The Tune" also represents a re-commitment by Mr Egan to consistent Live work. Its been a long time coming but it will be followed later this year by a New Album both releases on Egan's own Slinky Vibe Label. Fearghal Mc-Kee of seminal Irish Post Punk Band (Whipping Boy) came out of self-imposed retirement in June 2009 specially to play Egan's Return Gig. Renowned for working with Musicians across a wide range of Disciplines Egan says "It is a great pleasure to be creating the kind of Music I have always wanted to create and on my own Terms".
