About Me:
I love Irish folk, both the music and dancing. I have danced a bit myself, but I'm not very good - yet! I count myself very lucky 'cause many of my best friends are very good Irish musicians and I hang out with them as often as I can :-)

Apart from that I'm a Ph.D. student at the Geological Museum in Copenhagen, Denmark, where I study the palaeogeographic component to the Great Ordovician Biodiversification Event using world wide brachiopod occurrences (genera and species) for the whole Ordovician period (~488-444 million years ago).

Some of my other interests are trekking, skiing, scuba diving, martial arts, traveling, cooking fancy foods (sushi among others), reading Fantasy books (Discworld, Lord of the Rings) and watching good movies.
Favorite Music:
Irish folk

now you have got me started.

Looking through the Port Fairy site and came across a close acquaintance in Dobe Newton, our kids played hockey together and Dobe was a colleague teacher.
He was lead snger in a famous Australian band, the Bushwackers.
Though not trad Irish, buy a derivative. looks like he got frustrated with teaching and has just released a new CD.
He is more famousfor cowriting a famous Australian icon tune in "I am / we are Australian

As with fossils, you have to be into it, architecture is the same.
The comp is a very dry business plan comp through RMIT Uni, my old alumni, but interesting in that I have to work with an undergrad, hence the need to communicate through facebook. Thought I'd ask my daughter to enter with me, as she is doing Architecture at RMIT but she was less than enthusiastic, still got a case of the "oh Daaaads" about her which is cute.

The most famous of our folk festivals is the Port Fairy Festival

held in my State Victoria, you'll have to get the boyfriend to sharpen up an act and come down under.
I got on to live ireland a couple of years ago, but have only just gotten back to it.
Keep up the dancing Maria.

Regards

Mark

my laptop tells me it is 13 celsius at close to midday, bit of a grey day with it, Melbourne is a cooler climate though clear and blue i the majority.

I am new to this chat thing, I am interested in all things Irish, music as well, though not a practitioner.

I was last in Copenhagen in 2003 to meet up with a Danish Architect, Erling Christoffersen, so I have an Irish interest and a danish connection and you seem to fit both criteria. So i will annoy you.

I am entering a Business plan competition here in Melbourne but I had to register through Facebook, I was encouraged to link my website to twitter, so I am fully diving into the digital ether.

How are the fssils?

Sorry, bit of an in joke with the cheese, I am on an arts committee with a Danish artist here, and I was chastised for suggesting that Denmark doesn't have major exports, meaning unlike Australia with its minerals.
I have pasted her website link below
http://www.lenekj.com/index.htm
It was her input about the cheese.
I am more interested in the furniture, anyway, what is the weather like on the other side?

They tell me you make good cheese in Denmark, and furniture as well!
