This a striking edifice, indeed..!! I am reminded of the ancient Celtic practice of displaying the heads of vanquished enemies over the doorframes of their dwellings. The progression of faces suggests (to me, at least) the legendary phenomenon of ...

Hi there Marcie,
I have to agree with you about the Guinness, no idea why but it does taste like another drink anywhere else but Ireland..I have a private theory that goes back quite some time, don't tell anyone but I'm sure the fairies have a hand in it, or their hands on it..sssh..
Talk you later Marcie,
Tom

Wow two amazing things you mention. We are planning on hostels this time around and the one in Kilfenora was one I bookmarked as it's only one of a few in Clare Co. Was it a good place? My teenaged daughter is a dancer and we have done a few caile dances around here. The second thing you mentioned, our last trip we too skipped the Ring, however did go to Dingle as it's still a great town but getting a bit more touristy. We too hung out on the Beara Peninsula. What a great place that is. We walked around a few magical places there.
If we do pull off the trip in 2009 our goal is starting in Clare and going NW from there. Sligo and Donnegal.
I'm not a musician, just love the music. My daughter (the Irish Dancer) also plays the flute and whistle. She keeps urging me to play the bodhran.

Hi, I've lived in West Seattle (loved it there) and Richmond Beach over the years, now live south of Seattle.
I can certainly identify with the love of West Ireland. Hoping to head back there in 2009, pending on money that is. Especially smitten with the music in Clare Co.
