Yes, he does seem to have some lineage of border-collie/shepherd or ...hmm yes the muzzle shortness...mine is going blind and deaf. he is 14, but has some blue-hazing developing ,and does not hear us...but he can smell and sense dogs down the street, which we cannot even see or notice :)
There are exercises, not sure of which or how to go about doing it, but border-collies are very devoted but testy. He lays his head on my lap when he is bored or wants out or throws a paw up on my leg and moans...heh heh
He followed me to a copy center and crossed 4 lanes of traffic. i didn't know until I was half-way across town and someone called because he was sitting at the entrance of the copy center...
but he herds my cats and runs circles around them, preventing them from coming in the house. It is in his genes...does the army crawl...and bolts a lot.
I would look alternative therapies to combat the separation anxiety. Ypu do not want it continuing but at the same time, do not want to be extreme to be a quick fix as we may think we solve the problem but cause more strain and mental fatigue for them. Talk with an animal behaviorist or trainer. I have a friend here at the animal hospital who is a trainer, so I can ask...but it takes a lot of research...age they started doing it, if you brought them up as a pup etc...there are different variables and factors but it can be dealt with.
they want to make you happy and want your attention :)
give me my dog back -- NOW! ha ha -- I have border-collie shepherd...looks exactly like this but again...white on the eyebrows and muzzle. Taught him sign-language...very good trailer and herds my cats...didn't even train him to do it -- very militaristic ...seems to be ha ha write soon...
