Professional flutist and flute teacher, primarily classical...but Irish, as well - I'm classically trained and educated: BM Flute/Piccolo Performance, Indiana Univ. and MM Flute Performance, Northwestern Univ...please don't hold that against me ;^) I play the concert flute, piccolo, Irish flute, whistle, and piano...and I sing, as well. I teach private lessons as my main gig...and play in Chicago area sessions as often as is possible. I'm also fortunate enough to guest play with the great Milwaukee trad group, Athas...check out my audio clip (I composed the Cheesehead Polka for my friends in Athas)...and write me if you've any questions. Cheers!

Wow, nice bio! Welcome to the group, but sorry, you are a bit overqualified for the group, and you must leave. Nah, not really. As soon as you get the chance, introduce yourself in the main chat section if you want, I would love to know more about your experience and skills. Well nice to have you join us,
I try to go to Ireland twice a year, and yes I've had some wonderful sessions there. My favorite fluteplayer is Sylvain Barou, from Brittany in France. He plays with Jackie in Comas. Here in Belgium we have some nice small festivals with great bands from Ireland, Schotland and England. And also a big folkfestival with "all" the names (Lunasa, Christy Moore, daniel lanois, ...)
There's one thing that we miss: a disneyworld for folkies called Milwaukee Irish fest ;)
Kathleen, Stop by and check out our learning group. We are all students, in various stages, and would love to have you as a member. It's self-paced and you can participate at your leisure. I'm in the process of creating a user friendly infrastructure and I'm continually adding content.
So, drop in on the group!
