Dia duit. For as long as I can remember, I have always had a passion for all things Irish. Growing up with O'Brien as my surname, my parents naturally played up that part of my heritage as many Canadians tend to do - especially those from the East coast, where that side of my family resides.
For two years I was active member of Ottawa's Irish community and served as the Chair of Communications for the Irish Society of the National Capital Region. It was a busy but fulfilling role, one that had me out promoting local events in front of the media. I even cooked up some soda bread on T.V. as a promo for our Irish festival ; )
These days my time is filled working as a communications advisor for the government. it's a busy gig on top of raising my two beautiful children Andrew (age 4) and Maeve (3 weeks old).
While I may be a little less active in the Irish community these days, I hope to raise both children with an appreciation for the culture and language. My son has started picking up a little big of Gaelic already ; )
