For More on my musical life check out - http://www.myspace.com/buskersunited Also check out my blog BUSKING IN NANAIMO on Nananaimo forum

Who would ever think that being a busker would be so hard and complicated? I see by many videos buskers all over Ireland not having any troubles and being left alone. But here in Nanaimo BC Canada they have the most rediculous set of rules you have ever seen for buskers have a look and give me your comments,

http://www.nanaimo.ca/UploadedFilesPath/Bylaws/5723.pdf

Here where I live they don't even clasify buskers as the perfoming artists nor do they include buskers as being eligable for cultural grants in My case it's because I am professional. Last night here in Nanaimo the city gave out $169,000 dollars in grants for arts and culture groups that is equivelent to 85,000 pounds, (Buskers exempt) tell me Is something wrong here?

The power of music

Posted on December 15, 2010 at 4:59 0 Comments

As we come closer to the end of an intresting year I think back back on some of the things that I done in 2010, My biggest event was a move from Vancouver island in Canada's west coast to Alberta over a thousand miles away. It was a move that was very hard as the weather in Alberta is very cold during the winter. As a street entertainer it's more than difficult to adjust to not performing on the streets during the holiday season but perhaps there are better and warmer days to come. My music…

When Busking is the issue of the day we will never give up

Just an update about our busking troubles here in Nanaimo BC Canada, As another busking season is closing in we have been forced to buy busking licences again as our city council have failed us in reviewing our municipal busking bylaw and have placed us as professional buskers in the same category as the homeless, the drug adicted, alcohol abuse clients, and people with mental ilnesses We are being labeled as a danger to the public and being asked to allow the safer streets committee to… Continue

Here in Nanaimo BC Canada our family of buskers/ entertainers are in a court battle with our city to remove a busking bylaw which over regulates busking and limits our ability to earn a living. We are looking for support in our fight to continue to perform without harasment please check out one of our videos recorded on ST Paddys night Here is the link. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=55136662

This one is for you James..Beautiful video with Scotlands finest "RUNRIG" Singing "GOING HOME"  We have shared more then a lifetime of music and videos back and forth the past years and it was the passion and love of Celtic music we both shared that started it all but sadly back then I was not familiar with Runrig. Since then Runrig has become one of my very favorites with 71 videos in my youtube playlist and countless more saved in my faves! I hope you dont mind me posting this to you..ENJOY!
