Jake,
Your comprehensive answer to my ‘recording’ question blows me away somewhat. Albeit, I am not too surprised to learn that you are heavily into the recording process. As a neophyte in this genre I can only nod in wonderment and hope that I too will get to this level of sophistication at some point. Meanwhile, back to the Korg manual! Re. move to Canada . . . that’s a question not without its history best answered over a pint or two of Guinness when we both have time to sit and philosophise.

Jake,
Thank you for your kind comments re. my kids. No, we don’t play out live together. Actually, my son is a very accomplished classical pianist (I’m the rock & roll guy). He plays the penny whistle more for fun. My daughter honestly admits to ‘not been able to carry a tune in a bucket’. Playing music is not her thing. She will, however, enjoy your Valerie Bertinelli comparison (I think). Thanks!

Jake,
I was wondering what software/equipment you use to record/mix your current arrangements. I tried versions of Band-In-A-Box and Power Tracks ProAudio. When I tried to record a vocal track on BIAB over an MP3 track . . . lost all sound output. Re-installed the software, assigned all the correct drivers etc. but never did resolve the sound out issue. I am running Windows Vista Premium. Recently bought a Korg D4 four track (8 virtual tracks) recording unit. Still working on the instruction manual. Need a tutorial on the ‘art of sound recording’, particularly at the mixing down stage. Any suggestions? I would be interested to hear about your set-up.

Jake,
‘Pressure Cooker’ absolutely fantastic! Quite a resume also. Love the fact that you played with Chuck Berry . . . one of the ‘Greats’. Look forward to hearing more of your arrangements.
