Ger Loughlin is an Irish ballad/ folk singer and songwriter who grew up in Naas, Co. Kildare in the 1970's where the songs of The Dubliners, Clancy Brothers and Christy Moore were all part of his early experience. Singing was a feature of every family occasion and he began playing music from an early age.
From his teens during the late 80's and early 90's he sang in several rock bands in Ireland and London. Returning to Ireland at the start of the nineties, he worked mainly in theatre, writing and producing several plays for the Down to Earth and Minds at Work theatre companies, and also acted in several productions in Dublin.
He was a founding member of the folk group Dublin City Workingman's Band in 2001 and has performed in pubs, clubs, concert venues and festivals in Ireland and across Europe.
In 2011 he released "Home Ground", his first collection of original songs. Using an array of acoustic instruments and powerful vocal harmonies, the songs are modern ballads on contemporary themes.
Ger Loughlin is passionate performer who continues to sing his large repertoire of Irish and Celtic folk songs, with his own songs now sitting comfortably in his live shows.
