Dave,
Do you have a local Irish Association? Ours in Tasmania organises a weekly session where you can pick up skills from people who have been playing instruments all their life. Sounds like you have broad writing experience. I have just gone to part time work to do some writing on history teaching for a book I am co-authoring. I have also just taken up song-writing on Irish Tasmanian themes with my eldest son. His band, Daideo and the Blue Mosquitoes played one of them called The Irish Pier at the National Folk Festival in Canberra last week which was a great suprise for me. David

From one Dave to another, Welcome to LiveIreland. My son plays the whistle amongst other instruments and the way he improved was going to sessions at our local Irish pub. There is no better way to learn than playing tunes with others who know the music. He can now pick up most things by ear. What sort of writing do you do?
