World Tai Chi and Qigong Day 2009

For the first time I got to participate in something big and world wide. I have been learning Sun Style Tai Chi for the past year. The full form has 73 moves, and I finally learned all 73 moves in the past two weeks by practicing extra on the weekends.

For those that don't know, World Tai Chi and Qigong Day is an effort to have as many people perform Tai Chi at 10:00 am local time around the world. I took photos of the event, including recognition by the mayor of the city.

Found an interesting way to find Irish bands playing in the area

How to find music locally in the states and elsewhere.
First go to http://www.myspace.com.
Click on the Music section.
In there click on the Shows section.
Now enter your zip code, and change the What from Any Genre to Celtic.
Then click Submit.
Enjoy.
It works for Ireland also.

Snow, Snow, Snow

We have been getting lots of snow lately, here in Wisconsin. And just a much complaining. But I wonder how many people know that the snow is good for the environment. When it melts is seeps into teh ground and fields, getting the crops started. Excess runs into the rivers and lakes, which many are low these days.

Many farmers need it to start the crops. Crops that don't get a good start can drown in the spring rains. Many lakes and rivers are low to the point you can't even lauch a small boat.… Continue

Breithlá sona duit, Charlie!

I saw that it was your birthday and wanted to wish you happy birthday in Irish Gaelic. I really liked your quote that reads, "Carry a big stick, but remember to carry a bigger heart." So many of us humans focus on "force," forgetting that the inclusion of "heart" is necessary for a win-win outcome for all.

One of my favorite quotes is by the great warrior, Lao-tzu, "Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power."

Breithlá sona duit, Charlie! May you have a wondrous day!

Hi Carol. Yea its been a long winter, but I think people need to be reminded this is normal. We got so used to abnormal winters they became normal. LOL. I am looking forward to warmer weather, but I also keep in mind that snowy winters are good for the environment and the economy. I live in a lot of farmland and poor winters mean poor crop starts.
But the second biggest Irish day is here in the SE Wisconsin area, second only to Irish Fest. HAPPY ST. PATRICKS DAY!

Hi,
Happy St Patricks Day! I am your neighbor to the West. Have you been in Minnesota? We have been to Wisconsin a few times. Last fall we went to the Cranberry Fest in Warrens. Hope all is well with you there. Talk about snow. We have had a long winter this year with cold and snow.
Slan,
Carol
