I'm an Irish American, and fiercely proud of my Celtic heritage. My Caseys came over to the U.S. during the Famine (as so many other Irish families did), so I'm a few generations removed from my original Irish forebears.
I was fortunate, however, to be raised with a love of my Irish roots, having been taught the folk tales and tunes of Ireland as far back as I can remember. I have a deep love of Ireland's history, it's people, and music.
I just returned from a nine-day visit to Ireland. Such a beautiful country! The scenery is nothing short of breathtaking. The people are warm, delightfully talkative, and treat you like family. What can I say but, "Éireann go Brách!"
First and foremost: Irish Traditional. If I need to list other types and list names, I'd say Gaelic Storm, Loreena McKennitt, Jack Johnson, Nora Jones, to name a few.
