Glendalough-stone-in-two-189

This stone is a couple of miles up the valley from Glendalough. It has been cut cleanly in two. Does anyone know why or how? Please leave a comment if you know about it.

Comment by Doug on June 28, 2008 at 5:54: Hi, it definitely is a man-made cut. You can see the natural fault lines in the rock, they are not that straight, this is a very accurate cut.

Comment by Daithi Locha on June 27, 2008 at 8:11: Just noticed too from your photo that most of the rocks there seem to have fault lines going through them so it could be a case of splitting under its own weight.

Comment by Daithi Locha on June 27, 2008 at 8:09: I've seen this first hand too. Glendalough is a former Glacier Valley so it could have been like that since the last Ice sheet broke it 10,000 years ago or Lightning strike. (it is fairly prominent on a high plateau)
