I'm planning to visit Ireland, probably in July. I'm thinking of a tour for about a week and then going off on my own to a festival. Two in the general time frame was Mary from Dungloe, which has the advantage of scenary, or puck fair. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on these two or any other??? Mike

We went to Irleand, very last minute, last summer. Did the CIE tour which was fantastic for us. Hop on the coach tour around, sight see, get history and entertainment from the driver. At the end of the day pull right up to the motel and the bags are delivered to our rooms. Reverse process in the mornings. I learned so much Irish History..well, actually what I learned made me realize how MUCH I wanted to learn. For a first time trip, we saw so much. I have a relative who has had a cottage in Galway for 40 yrs. He said I saw more in my one week than he has in all his years of visiting.

When we went we were truly amazed at how small the roads were and how fast everyone drove, but, after awhile i found hubby driving just as fast and loving roundabouts. He says we need some in Idaho and I told him no, we need to move back to where are grandparents and great grandparents lived, he agreed. He has been working on getting is citizenship for many years (6) now as it seems to be a slow process when your grandmothers name is Murphy, almost as bad as trying to find a John Joseph Barry. We are getting closer and can't wait to move home to Ireland, we absolutely loved being there and have made some wonderful friends.

I have to weave between the little squirrels in the early morning, as I cycle up the Lagan towpath, they are quite fearless.
