Irish trad and musicology

Hi!
I don't know if this is the right place to create this discussion but I'm wondering if someone here on liveIreland forum could help me on a research I'm doing.for a writing project about Irish traditional music from a musicological point of view.
In a few words, I'd like to discuss about the constant and characteristic elements of Irish trad which make it differ from folk, "modern" interpretation or "modern" compositions in the traditional way.
