Irish living in Canada

Greetings all...being 100% Irish and presently residing in Canada alters the subject a wee bit...However since living here in B.C.for 3 years now I have seen many signs of how strong the Irish as here. The greatest event of course is the St. Paddy's Day Parade. Many organizationsput on a grand show. There are 1000's of persons participating to celebrate their heritage . In the center of Vancouver the finest local pub is 'The Blarney Stone" this place is the closest I've found to being traditional . The group is called " Killarney" oddly enough named after my hometown. The lads are from Ireland and now are Canadian citizens. I have gotten to know them and many a time Erin has the pleasure to get up and join singing with the group....on these special times she herself feels at home, rather im good or not tis the question! This special day you can also see several dance groups performing true Irish dance....again another of my loves.

Vancouver puts out a newpaper called the Celtic Connection containing all the latest news from Ireland, local coming events , and practically anything and everything pertaining to Irish culture.

It tis wonderful to see that many Irish join together to continue their passion for Ireland..many folks wishing to keep their heritage alive and thrieving....so in saying -once it's in the blood it shall continue to flow......
Even if you do not have a smigden of Irish do check out your local community for events and interests...Us Irish always will be willing to share our LOVE for the land...." Tir na Nog "
