I've been playing bódhrán since a friend bought me one for my 30th birthday... self taught, if you don't count the occasional video. When people ask, I tell them it's easy to play...but very difficult to play well. Are there any pieces of music you like to practice to?

Hi, have been playing the Bodhran for about 20 years now. Have an original Dick lett made for me by the man him self, its a shame he's gone, his wit and humour and the fact he demanded a whiskey after and between every conversation will be missed!!

No other percussion instrument in the world sounds as sweet as the Bodhran whether solo or with pipes, guitar, banjo and tin whistle wow! I'm getting goose bumps just talking about it.

Hi there fellow bodhran players. I've just uploaded some vids of me playing some bodhran solos at home and at a festival. Check them out and leave your comments.
Tom, I recently bought a Rode M3 condenser mic. Bloody brilliant!!! Australian made too.
Cheers,

Jeremy

Mornin', friends: I've been asked to teach bodhran this summer for the Central Missouri Celtic Arts Association. I've been playing for about 15 years, but I've never taught -- any suggestions? I'm inclined to add a bit of historical content and such (that's what I get for being a librarian!) Any help appreciated. Go raibh maith agaibh,

Tom

Hi to all, well having just joined the group this is a little about me, I have played and still play the Bodhran for nearly 30yrs, I am quite lucky to own a Dick Lett drum given to me by himself,it is made with goat skin and sounds as good today as when i first got it, he was a wonderfull drum maker and person however passed away some 12years ago, I remember him telling me that Kevin coneff (chieftains) asked him for a drum but dick refused giving the reason that he did not like the way he played the side of the drum and it is supposed to be the silent drum in the background.
