What are the Saint Patrick's Day celebrations like in your country?

Here in America people dress funny and get very drunk on green beer.I think this is corny, but fun.It is amazing to me how in the USA everyone becomes Irish on Saint Patrick's Day.My husband says that in Ireland Saint Patrick's Day is more of a religious holiday and people do not party like crazy on that day.He has never been to Ireland so he is baseing this on what his granny that came for Ireland told him. What is the holiday like in your country?(Ireland and other countries)
