The Legend of Grainne Mhaol

The Legend of Gráinne Mhaol is a spectacular traditional music show based on the real-life story of the legendary 16th century Irish Pirate Queen Grace O’ Malley, or Gráinne Mhaol in the Irish
language.  Gráinne Mhaol was one of the last Irish clan leaders to
resist the English conquest of Gaelic Ireland and is famed as the
greatest heroin in Irish history.

This show is a wonderful celebration of Irish music, song and dance is an inspiring epic, reliving the journey of the Irish legend Gráinne Mhaol throughout history.  The show is full of energy and enthusiasm and
has captured the imagination of audiences across all ages and cultures.

It launched

in Hotel Westport on the 16th of June 2010 and is running every Wednesday night until 22nd of September.

Brian Ó Cuinneagáín

Irelands best known and most gifted Sean Nos dancer Brian O Cuinneagáin is from Cashel in Connemara. Brian has shared the stage with Frankie Gavin, Sharon Shannon, Seamus Begley, Ronnie Drew, Mairtín O
Connor, Phil Coulter, The Chieftans, Tim Edey, Liam óg O Flynn &
Seamie O Dowd but to mention a few. He has appeared on TV such as The
Late Late Show, Nationwide, Up for the Match, The Weetabix Awards, BBC
Television and many more TV networks around the world. Brian won the
title of All Ireland Sean Nós dancing three times.

Cora Smyth

After ten years on the road with Michael Flatley and his shows Lord of the Dance, Feet of Flames and Celtic Tiger, Mayo fiddler Cora Smyth joins The Legend of Gráinne Mhaol. Cora became a full time musician
after she was chosen to play the fiddle on the 1996 Eurovision winning
song ‘The Voice’ sung by Eimear Quinn. Cora’s solo album “Are We There
Yet?” has received glowing reviews around the world.

James Kilbane

Mayo Country, Gospel & Folk singer James Kilbane from Achill Island was capsulated into the hearts and minds of the nation following his unbelievable success on the Irish talent show You’re a Star. Since
then he has gone on to record seven albums all providing to be massive
hits at home and abroad.
