Please post your Favorite IRISH FESTIVAL and WHY!
I would like to start out by saying my Favorite is one that we perform at yearly and for Great reason... it is Fabulous.
Well worth the Two Day Drive for us!
Sept 10 through the 12.
The Mississippi celtic Festival in jackson MS is a Three day event that any individual living with a 10 hour drive of it that loves IRISH MUSIC should NOT miss. This Festival is like none other.
UNBELIEVABLE performances by performers we have all heard of and some that you have not heard of that will Fast become your Favorites.. Four beautiful Stages all indoors out of the Heat.. workshops with many of the performers outside in Tents. Dance Performances, Whiskey Tasting, Vendors, Food, Beer, Ceilidh, and some of the nicest folks your ever going to meet.
What happens at CelticFest Mississippi?
CelticFest annually features two international-caliber performers. Visit the Performers page for more information on headliners and our other performers.
The festivities begin Thursday night with the Film event.
Celtic Fest is under full sail on Friday evening, finishing up Sunday evening.
An ever popular highlight of CelticFest, the massive Céilí Mór Dance (pronounced ‘kay-lee’) caps off the Saturday night with three shifts of live music. “They don’t turn out like this in Ireland! This is astounding!,” said Eoin Verling of the Fuchsia Band.
In addition to stage performances, the weekend is full of opportunities to participate and learn at one of the many free music, dance, or cultural workshops. Workshops are generally conducted by CelticFest performers and are geared towards general audiences with an interest in the topic.
The children won’t be left out— CelticFest is a family-friendly festival! There will be a Children’s Area with activities they can do with their parents, plus kid-oriented vendors on the grounds.
The Celtic Heritage Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the mission of promoting and preserving the arts and culture of the Celtic nations. CelticFest is a family-oriented event, and all CHS events are open to the public. PLAN NOW TO go to www.celticfestms.org/

GEEZ... you wont be needing to know where the best Fests are if you are going to be getting your mail in Ireland!
If you are still in the States.. try to hit the Mississippi fest... Any of our Live Ireland friends that come out will get a FREE CD for their appearance.. Just look for us and grab me.. not hard...and I'll let you have the pick of the litter!

Australia's National Celtic Festival was on a couple of week's ago on the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria. Beoga from County Antrim were one of the headline acts. It is a great festival and if you want to read more go to http://www.nationalcelticfestival.com/

AHHH.. I just went on and read all about it.. I would Travel across to the Fest to See and Hear Eric Bogle!!!
The festival looks like a really Great time with a really extensive line up.
We had Beoga come here to The White Crow in Saginaw Michigan a couple of years ago.. they are a fun Young Band.
I will put this one on our list of FESTs to shoot to hit!

We attend two festivals each year. The Memorial Weekend Irish Festival in East Durham , N.Y. and The Penn-Mar Festival in York Pa. Both are excellent and very family orientated.
This past year we went to Shamrock-fest in DC..now that was a mistake...its basically huge frat party...Irish has little to do with it except its held around St. Pats Day....I'm 44 years old and was easily one of the oldest people there...very disappointing

Ahhh.. The Washington one sounds alot like 70% of whats happening out there. For those its all about the Beer tent ..it does nothing for me either and nothing to help promote the Irish Culture.
I will check out the two you have mentioned.. the Irish Fest in E Durham I have heard of but never attended and the Penn-Mar in York PA I have Never heard of.. so Im going to my favorite expert in everything "google" to do a bit of checking! Thanks for sharing your Favorites with us!
