Song

by Thomas Moore
the greatest Irish lyrist
born Dublin, 1779 - died 1852
Have you not seen the timid tear
Steal trembling from mine eye?
Have you not mark'd the flush of fear,
Or caught the murmur'd sigh?
And can you think my love is chill,
Nor fix'd on you alone?
And can you rend, by doubting still,
A heart so much your own?

To you my soul's affections move
Devoutly, warmly, true:
My life has been a task of love,
One long, long thought of you.
If all your tender faith is o'er,
If still my truth you'll try;
Alas! I know but one proof more -
I'll bless your name, and die!

THE CHOICE

The intellect of man is forced to choose
Perfection of the life,or of the work,
And if it take the second must refuse
A heavenly mansion, raging in the dark.
When all that story`s finished,What`s the news?
In luck or out the toil has left its mark:
That old perplexity an empty purse,
Or the day`s vanity,the night`s remorse.

William Butler Yeats....1932

Life`s Awakening,

How can`t we cherish ?
Amaze by the new Beginning,
Time stand still, for keeps and changes
To hold and admire, for ever foolish.

Care for and relate to as well
We envy ourselves and youth,
With no time`s influence we dwell
Comtemplating our desire.

Always time stopping
Never growing old in the season,
Innocent and true for being
Without awareness of effects we bring.

Dreams of olds,dreams of tomorrow
For freshness and new,fade away
Time stood and won reality
Amazing are we in the new born day,
Our heart wide open.

From me to you all........................................

A wise man once told me that ‘this is not a dress rehearsal – we have one life to live – and, we don’t get the opportunity to come back and do it all over again.’ In keeping with your poem – ‘How can’t we cherish? – Life’ Awakening’ – let all our hearts be ‘wide open’ as you advocate – and to savour life as you so aptly demonstrate in this poem and other comments in LI.

THE HAWK

`Call down the hawk from the air;
Let him be hooded or caged
Till the yellow eye has grown mild,
For larder and spit are bare,
The old cook enraged,
The scullion gone wild.`

`I will not be clapped in a hood,
Nor a cage, nor alight upon wrist,
Now I have learnt to be proud
Hovering over the wood
In the broken mist
Or tumbling cloud.`

`What tumbling cloud did you cleave,
Yellow-eyed hawk of the mind,
Last evening? that I,who had sat
Dumbfounded before a knave,
Should give to my friend
A pretence of wit.`

William Butler Yeats...........1916
Dia dhuit a Lady Dianne,
Hawk is a priviledge bird, for he can enjoy the vastness of the sky,and is free to rom wherever he whants,
Two Hawk together is the ultimate Lady Dianne,so glad you`ve enjoyed....May the two Hawks bless your day and protect you.....Dia dhuit ar Maidin..........

THE MAIDEN

So pure and wide this Maiden heart was..
To feel so clearly,immaculate,
The righteous way she was born
To show the purpose of goodness to beggars.

Blinded eye she heal with passion
Nature of her soul came freely,
Knowing no other way,was with I to stay
So cherish treasure,to last for ever.

She came from nowhere, and dropped by
To be found eternal throught time,
With no end insight the essence of my heart
She`ll be for ever ,mind and soul.

Yearning for I always did,to seek her ways
She showed her path for existence,
Was caught gently in her flow drifting
To follow for ever tranquility her sway,
And ease a suffering heart.

This from me to you all
And mostly a special friend so dear to me, Lady Dianne,

Brown Penny

I wispered, `I am to young,`
And then,`I am old enought`;
Wherefore I threw a penny

To find out if I might love.
`Go and love,go and love,young man,
If the lady be young and fair.`
Ah,penny,brown penny,brown penny,
I am looped in the loops of her hair.

O love is the crooked thing,
There is nobody wise enought
To find out all that is in it,
For he would be thinking of love
Till the stars had run away
And the shadows eaten the moon.
Ah,penny,brown penny,brown penny,
One cannot begin it to soon.

William Butler Yeats................1910.....so great logic
