Irish Internet Radio and TV from Dublin, Ireland.

Christmas has always been that special time of year for us all. Decorating the house, putting up the lights, baking and rushing about trying to purchase that gift for everyone. The pressure of it all is boggling!!!
For myself, I have always think months in advance about each person that I give a present to. One thing that I do, is I become creative and make my gifts, whether it be quilting, a drawing, bakings, or something special I have designed myself.
Being away from Ireland during the holidays sometimes be a sad time for me. However, this is when I think of others less fortunate then myself. In the small community where I reside throughout the year I am involved in giving my time to others. I work at our local food bank, volunteer my time with 3 familes, and assist in preparing food hampers for ove 180 families. Presonally. I make the children a stocking made by me ,filled with candy, a stuffed bear, crafts items, and a Irish cd.
I will share my passion of music and dance with others, take time to have a eggnog or special coffee. For Irisheyes what is most important to me is to give my time, love, and a Irish hug. Nothing finer tis that.....
Nollaig shona duit to you all......and may each of you continue to share friendship and your love for Irish music.
"" Dance as if no ones watching"" ( I always do ) !!
Slaine Erin

Wow Erin, you look pretty occupied and the special thing you do for the least fortunate almost make me cry of emotion. That a really good gesture to do. I hope you will have a wonderfull christmass in all that snow.

Im born in Quebec and for me Christmass has always been covered with snow. Christmass is snow falling down and christmass music playing with a warn family and alcohol. But especially snow. I hope you like snow and i wish a lot of it ( if you do like it ) :)

Wow, the world would truly be a better place if everyone would have your outlook on life. You really have an understanding on the meaning, "It is better to give than recieve." Have a blessed holiday season! :)

Erin great idea for a topic.

Christmas for me is a reminder that we are all connected be it friends, family or strangers, close or far, alive or passed. It was the only time of year my entire (mom-dad, aunts-uncles, grandparents, cousins) family gathered together at the same time. That short time together at Christmas was very special to me, especially now that many have passed away over the last few years.

Being alone at Christmas has to be one of the most difficult times of the year, so my family has made an effort to visit some of the local elderly that has no family. Where I live, there are several homes for the elderly. So on Christmas day we take Riley, our lovable lab, and visit one or two of the homes. It’s a great way to give back to the community that has absolutely nothing to do with the commercial side of Christmas.

Peace, Todd

Erin girl, you are made after me own heart...LOL. I love to do allot of those same things. I don't quilt but I wish I could. I love to bake and lately I have been getting more into volunteering again. I am planning to bake some cookies for the fire department since they are right down the street from me. They do so much and I feel that they really deserve it. I also plan to visit a nursing home and pay some personal visits there. Christmas to me is about showing love and kindness to one another and also remembering that Jesus Christ is the real reason for the season and that none of this would be possible without him.

Christmas is a special time to reflect on all the things we are greatful for. For my family it is a time for gathering together as a family. Some are too far away to come but we always call and everyone talks with that person/s. My daughter Hol (the troll slayer...lol) and her husband cannot be here this year and with it being baby Daniel's (AKA LI'S youngest listener) first Christmas it will be hard not to have them here. In Daniels honor we gave a neighbor with a new baby Christmas stockings and baby clothes. For me personally the greatest gift to me is when I can give to others like so many of you others here. I love decorating the tree and Christmas music and all the wonderful sights and tastes that go along with the season but the most important thing to me is that I am celebrating the Lord's birth. Wouldn't it be grand if we could hold all the good will and kindness that miraculously seems to appear during this season all year long. I for one intend to hold the spirit of Christmas in my heart all thru out this coming year and beyond.

Family is the center of the Holidays for me. I enjoy stopping in at my uncle and aunts and all the cousins there for a quick nip and some cheer. I spend the whole day or two or three with my mom and sisters and bro and all their kids... of course my own wife and girls... very special time. Great memories... and all.

Christmas time for me is all about Jesus. Its about the gift he gave us in coming to earth. I love spending time with close friends and family. I sometimes miss the snow but in Southern Calif you can visit it without having to deal with the negative aspects.
My prayer is that everyone at Live Ireland has a wonderful and blessed Christmas.
