In my case, my love of Irish music goes back to my grandfather, Robert Ramsay, who was convinced that Irish people were gifted and a bit magical. As a small child, I remember people coming to the…Continue

SUNSET (Touch Hills)

The Touch Hills (pronounced t-oo-ch and not touch) is a local name for this corner of the Campsie Fells. This photo is taken from the lay-by below Stirling Castle, which I pass every day to and from work, Dx.

A welcome sunny spell following days of wintry weather. The river looks like glass and reflects the sun hitting the far banks. This is where I lucky I am!

Thank you for the info! I know I dont have the accent right on the phrase, because I do not know how to type that in properly.Maybe I can do as you have copy and paste it and save that. I am sorry to get it wrong, but it was only because I need to know my keyboard better.

Ill see what I can do to copy it.I do not use Word program very well either-so Ill have to struggle it through.

Let me know how the drone fits and sounds on your pipes-maybe even having a video taken of you playing? No pressure!

It is cold here and around two feet of snow. Very pretty in the big mountains, but when the roads are slick I dont care for that.

I hope your winter is going beautiful and well. Rain,snow-makes for green pastures and high rivers and lakes-my favourite.

I send you that lovely farewell,Duncan, but will not wite it till I can figure how to put the accents properly on the letters!

Best to yourself,  sharon

Thank you for the greeting! It has been a very busy start to the year for myself-with my art work, also living in Montana's winter time.It hasnt been too cold-though a cold front is here now through the next few days. The mountains sure are pretty now.

I am sure you are excited about getting the drone end for your pipes. That is about my favourite instrument.I listen to the Channel 1 here on the radio feed as I work, and when I hear tunes that feature serious pipes I just have to stop work and enjoy the tune.

Someday I would love to visit Ireland and just tour the areas for a while and enjoy local musicians, the land, and horses. Shotgunning with Daithi would be a plus! Or with any local shooting club, for that matter. And taking many photos.

Well its back to work for myself.Duncan, you and yours have a warm and happy winter.

Duncan, Thank you for the Gaelic explanation-it is indeed a beautiful term.I will include this into my goodbyes as well.

Turning colder here, and it is snowing.Winter has arrived!

Hi Duncan,

Thanks for your update.

I too am busy and so understand-if you send a note once in a while thats ok!

I just returned from a business trip-an outdoors hunting show-I do PR rep work for the magazines that I draw for.It was fun but desperately hot.Im glad to be back in my big mountains in the cool.

Have a good trip to Donegal  the end of the month. It is nice to have a break. You and Sheila have a nice time.

I like to paint outbuildings and homes-at least mine-it always looks fresh and is good to go for more years.

Well Im pressed to finish some art-I have a moose on the desk that needs finishing.

Thank you for the update,Duncan, and will be in touch later.

Hi Duncan,

It is always mighty to hear from you.

I appreciate your rescue of the wee oystercatcher.Birds have it so tough in today's environments.I feed wild birds in two big feeders, sunflower seed. Some millet too .

Sometime have Sheila take some photos of yourself playing music with your friends-that would make for wonderful pictures here.

I can imagine what you have had to deal with as regards an environment of civil unrest, and I am sorry you went through that experience-as many have also. Here in the US,hunting and target sports are a normanl part of life in many areas, especially out west here.I am a horseman amidst a culture of hunters, marksmen, and cowboys.Montana in particular is considered one of the least old style western states, with tall rugged mountains and the outdoors type of people to match.I love the outdoors industry and activities, hence my illustrating for so many hunt oriented magazines. My editors love the realistic feel to my art in large part because I also know of what I draw, being so active outdoors.

My handling of rifles is done with the most careful, reponsable control.I have been taught by the best in police and military instructors, and I do not tolerate poor weapon handling-that makes me nervous too!

Actually,Daithi, this site's owner, has as his photo ID an image of himself shooting a shotgun, and we have had a nice discussion on the pleasure of responsible shooting sports.

In this way,the US is a whole different world-and amazingly, that works in our favour as regards crime in some areas. There are places that a criminal knows what result he will experience if he breaks into a home if the owners are present! That type of crime is almost non existent in this area.Too bad that people have to worry at all of security.

They need to all play music!!

Thank you Duncan.

Heres a shot from my pro days.

Now I play for fun.

Hope you are well -would be fun for a wee group of us to play sometime.

Raining in the big mountains here-a desperate day.

Best, sharon

Glory Be!!

Wonderful to hear from yourself.

I could discuss our family lines with your wife, and play music all night long.I used to play as a pro and have been in several very good bands-the only woman in them all.I loved to play the Irish competition tunes in the old time fiddle contests with my fiddler friend. We have placed high several years in a row-in the advanced divisions till he was asked to judge!

I play guitar-a big Guild that can hold its own with a banjo.I play with some very good melodic banjo players-I also play mandolin and mandola.I love to sing as well, and sing a few of the love songs from the Coors.

I simply adore the Illian pipes [spell?] Ones that Paddy Mahoney plays! Nothing gets me as the pipes.

Please see my profile-you will see what I do for work-my Bailey eventing horse was posted on the sites front page.

My mum-Shirley Ann O'Donnell-was direct from Ireland-and I inherited her long red hair and green eyes-but my Da's dark Indian skin tone.I can break into her rolling Irish accent at will-to the delight of all my cowboy and cowgirl friends here in Montana.

Please keep in touch,Duncan! I would dearly love to hear you play-perhaps sometime you could post a recording here.

I dont know if you like cold ones, but I surely do-and Ill have one for yourself tonight!

I hear all the music of Ireland when I am in motion on a horse.I ride in speed events,as well as for the fun.

Enjoyed so much hearing from yourself!
